Introducing Lansdown

Our rugs originated over 30 years ago when Jane Whittle designed and made a new rug because she could not find one to fit her horse. She then started manufacturing horse rugs from her home near Lansdown, Bath.

Lansdown is now owned by CSG Co. Ltd, a firm that was established in 1959 and has been a family run business for three generations. CSG Co. Ltd bought the company after we had, for several years, manufactured the Therma-dry fabric that is used to make many of the the Lansdown rugs and accessories. Furthermore, we shared Jane's passion for the Lansdown rugs' superior fit and quality, and have continued to develop the range with numerous innovations in fit and fabric technology.

The Perfect Fit

Any product carrying the Lansdown name must be of the highest standard. Lansdown products are designed to fit perfectly and are tested thoroughly to ensure their fitness for purpose. We make our products to last, and use the highest quality materials most suited to a rug's function, balancing natural fibres for comfort with synthetics for strength and durability.

Our horse rugs are individually made and uniquely tailored with the "Lansdown dart" around the shoulders and quarters to prevent rubbing. We have applied these principles of fit and quality to our Lansdown Dog Coats and also to our range of Quiltknit Country Sweaters.
